Can the companions following be disabled?

Hi, I would like to ask modders, if it is possible to change or completely disable the distance after which your companions start following you. As you know, even if you don´t pick certain companions, they will start following you after short distance. It broke me quite a few fights. Thank you in advance.

No...it being a tactical RPG and all your options are very limited as far as control in the first one. Although, I don't think they follow closely enough, and that the stupid mages decide to engage in hand to hand far to often. This is a game I love to hate..and still keep playing.. It's beautiful to look at -that's for sure. This is a necro post for those that might have a similar question.
