spells are not working

im playing the river of time..i have forgrim cano and jaakon..but now i changed jaakon with ardo because all the spells in the jaakons quickslots went grey..they are all unclickable..i let him stay in the ship and check him often if hes back again or not..but no..hes still the same..hes totally worthless now..did this happen to anybody before..is there a way to fix it...

But you know that in the dark eye world mages can't cast if they wear metal?
I bet he's wearing something with metal. Equip something else. It's allowed to store metal things in the inventory of course.

yea i know..seems i didnt see his head armor..its a metal hat..its open though but still prohibitin spellcasting..thank you...
