Best Team

Postby aniruddh on 27.05.2009, 07:56:07

I was wondering what is the best team that people use the most in the game
I used
Roulana
Traladar
Forgrimm
For the mos part
I even feel some characters such as the elf in tallon are completely useless as he is at a much lower level than rest of the party as well as the power potion lady (but you get great recipes from her  )
All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by frost.

I actually prefer the archetypical RPG build
Me (Warrior, Pirate, etc)
Gwendala (Archer, elf, half mage)
Dranor, Gladys (Typical rogue)
Jost (Battlemage)
But thats just for asthetic sense

If you want a power build
Forgrim (Max 2 handed axe and hammer when you get titanium ring of strength)
Me (Again Warrior or Pirate)
Jost (You need magic)
And you may be surprised but
Ancorin (the elf dude)
First of all he is half mage so you can cast fastness of body to increase his overall defense much more than any lowly human fighter
Second casting Ice cold warrior on himself and others greatly improves your fighting power since its an elf skill as it makes you immune to damage and wounds for a decent time
Thirdly with a spear he can be used greatly to inflict superb wounds on flesh enemies with mortal wound (not to forget that one of the best spears in the game comes shortly after you recruit him)
Also using his increased agility and Move as Lightning spell dodge actuall becomes an asset

Of course you could just become a elf warrior yourself but even then there is no greater joy than 2 elf bros kicking butt together
Traldar seems weak for the simple reason that he casts aside his shield and has low resistance to magic
He is usefull till you get Ancorin though
In Rhulana's case she focusses on sabers rather than axes (Of course you can change that but Forgrimm is the ideal choice due to his increased strength)
Auralia is useless. Period.

my party is probably the furthest thing from a power-group, but it's what I've found to be the most fun, mainly because it doesn't involve casting magic and I really hate how magic works in this game

Me (Warrior 1h+shield)
Forgrimm (1h+shield)
Rhulana (longbow, healing)
Dranor (fencing weapon...he's pretty useless in a fight, but I like to use lunge for wounds)

now, by most people's standards that group sucks, and in some ways it does, but i find it alot of fun, and other than the stupid rat boss, I haven't had any difficulty in the game yet

I prefer traldar because he is very good at defending and I use the windmill skill as well as defensive combat 3 2gthr as he becomes very difficult to beat And I had also learnt dodge 3.

Me - Elven Fighter as DPS and Offhealer (Optional)

Forgrimm - as main tank

Traldar - as DPS and off tank

Jost - as main healer and summoner. (I also like his fire balls spells if there's not a load to heal)

The main character can be swapped at will ofcourse, since he just fills a support role.
I'd say Forgrimm is the best meat shield, and Traldar has a slightly better DPS then Rhulana, but his survivability is considerabily less - I just stacked a few points in willpower, his 50 HP is enough to survive most area damage.

Jost is a load better at healing then Gwendala, Gwendala can use a bow ofcourse - and can therefore damage a load without the use of magicka at larger range.
But Jost starts with a higher Magicka pool and regenerates quite a bit, especially if you stack him with regeneration items.
His survivability is also a load more, he starts out with 12-13 more HP then Gwendy and is 100 % mage, whereas Gwendy is more or less a ranger and starts out with a low HP pool.

I did some switching around, but the combo I finally got that I like the most is:

Me - Healing Mage, takes care of buffing, most healing, summoning, and most offensive magic

Forgrimm - Megatank

Traldar - Slick 2h sword dps

Gwendy - Longbow dps, backup healing

To me, at least, this combo feels really nice. I like having Gwendy do mostly dps, but take over healing when either too much is going around for my healing mage to keep up (thankfully rarely, but it does happen when you've only got one character with a shield!) or when he's otherwise incapacitated. Everyone complains about Traldar's weakness to magic, but slap a psychic focus on him when you face magic enemies and he'll be fine. For the most part, imo, Traldar is a beast.
